About Melissa

Hello! I will begin by sharing with you that I am not a “blank slate” therapist who engages by simply reflecting and validating. I am compassionate and sensitive as I communicate my experiences, opinions and viewpoints with my clients. I am told that my clients appreciate my unique approach as it helps to hear alternative perspectives.

My practice…

I have the most wonderful individuals in my life who make my private practice one for which I am forever grateful. I feel very fortunate to have a practice influenced by such unique individuals who continue to inspire me every day. The inspirational progress that unfolds while walking through life with my clients is incredible. My favorite part of this path is when we are rewarded with new awarenesses, “ah ha!” moments. Experiencing these revolutionary moments is my ultimate goal as a therapist.

As a psychotherapist, I have several titles depending on my client: life coach, individual and family therapist and counselor. Regardless of my title, my devotion in life is helping individuals, couples and families find peace, happiness and balance in their lives. At times, clients seek marriage or family therapy while others seek individual counseling. I see clients who are anxious and/or depressed who are looking to feel more comfortable with each passing day. Many also see me in hopes to save a relationship, whether it be with family or friends or sometimes in the work place too. I also have clients that are either looking for love or are healing from a heartbreak. The heartbreak is not necessarily limited to a relationship status…the pain can be related to grief and fertility pain as well. Depending on your life’s story, I will tailor your therapy to assist you on your journey.

I feel competent working within various therapeutic modalities as I can incorporate present centered awareness into the session each time we meet. Some of these approaches include, but are not limited to: behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, cognitive, psycho-dynamic, existential, family systems, developmental (adult, child, family) and humanistic or psycho-educational. If you are looking to work within a specific approach then just let me know and we can go from there.

My education experience…

I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Chapman University and then went on to obtain my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.

The therapeutic relationship is a special one. Sometimes it takes a few meet and greets to find the right therapeutic fit for you. Good luck on your journey!
