“Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.” ~ Shannon L. Alder

My clients have something in common which is a strong desire for relationships that breathe depth, honesty, reliability and trustworthiness. This is why I find an explorative and depth-oriented therapeutic relationship to be of such value. In my comfortable office you have a safe and personal space to reflect and explore your life. Together, we look at alternative ways of thinking, feeling, behaving and responding so that a balanced state of living can evolve.

Together we will embark on a journey that focuses on your goals, your needs and your desires. We will also take a deeper look at your history and the patterns and interpersonal dynamics that have been repeated over your lifetime so that comfortable changes within these and future relationships can be made.

What expectations might you have?

While we work toward establishing a healthy therapeutic relationship, you can expect that one of my ultimate goals is understanding your experiences and empathizing with you as we explore the depths of your psyche and the intricacies of your life’s story.

Another expectation you might have is how to live a more balanced life: mentally, emotionally and physically. A personal goal of mine is helping you become aware of how to live a life of balance, tranquility and equanimity. It is very important to me that you embark on a path toward self realization, growing more aware of the inner workings of your mind as you also begin to understand the complexities of your emotions.

You can expect that participating in therapy can result in a number of wonderful benefits to you, including improving interpersonal relationships and resolution of the specific concerns that led you to seek guidance in the first place. Working toward these benefits, however, requires effort on your part as well. In order to change your thoughts, feelings and behavior, the process requires your active involvement, honesty and openness.

As therapy unfolds and evolves and your innermost beliefs and convictions are unveiled, you might expect the path to be challenging. However, these sessions propel you into a space of deeper self-understanding and awareness, which is ultimately one of our most important goals.

Lastly, change will sometimes be easy and swift, but it may also be slow and even frustrating. Change is not always comfortable but once a positive change is made there can be tremendous relief from mental and emotional discomfort.
